Seed Library

Seed Library

The library now hosts a seed library right inside our building, where visitors can take up to 3 packets of seeds at a time to plant in their personal gardens, free of charge. Just come inside the library, and go to the seed library in the first card catalog under the bulletin boards to find the vegetable, herb, fruit or flower seeds you need.

The seed library is offered in grateful partnership with the New Providence Sustainability Committee, and runs on donations of seeds for use within the community. If anyone has leftover unused seeds, please label them and drop them off at the library.

Our SEED LIBRARY has been a huge hit so far!
We have given out over 100 packets of seeds to members of our community since we launched our seed library in March! Now that many of you are finished planting, we'd love to accept your surplus seeds. Please drop off seeds either in their original seed envelope, or labeled in a bag of what types of seeds they are.

We have high need for donations of:
  • Tomato seeds (all varieties)
  • Vegetable seeds (any kinds)
  • Squash seeds (zucchini & yellow squash, especially)
  • Pepper seeds (habanero, if you have them!)
  • Herb seeds (basil, chives, and dill, especially)
  • Fruit seeds (any variety)
  • Flower seeds (any except zinnia)

Thank you!

Discover, Collaborate, Connect

Your Library is the place to be!

We love seeing so many people in our thriving New Providence community using the Library. Our numbers have never been higher! Whether you come to the library to sit and read, stay and work, attend programs, discuss great books, listen to author talks, meet with special interest groups, borrow materials, or shop in our bookstore, we love seeing you here!

It is clear that our library provides so many things for different groups of people. We appreciate every child, student, teen, adult, and senior who comes through our door and becomes part of our library family. We hope you'll join us!
