The book group will discuss Last Call At Coogan's : The Life and Death of a Neighborhood Bar by Jon Michaud. Sometimes called Uptown City Hall, Coogan’s became a staple of Washington Heights life during its 35 years of operation in Manhattan ―a place of safety and a bulwark against prejudice in a multi-ethnic, majority-immigrant community undergoing rapid change. Last Call at Coogan's was published by Macmillan in 2023.
Author Jon Michaud will attend part of the book group meeting -- with a few items from Coogan's -- and answer any questions you may have.
