Library Use Policy (Other than Meeting Room)

Library users have the right to study, read or work without unreasonable interference.  Library patrons must respect the rights of others who are using the library.  Noise may not be louder than the ambient noise in the room.  The New Providence Library reserves the right to ask users to lower their level of noise, and also to relocate groups of 2 or more within the library.

Chairs and tables are available on a first-come basis.  Patrons can expect to share a table or a space with others as needed.  Tables may not be reserved.  Furniture must not be moved.

It is the responsibility of the owner to safeguard personal belongings.  The Library is not responsible for personal property, including cell phones, laptops, iPads, handbags, etc.

Library users may not publish or distribute advertisements, letters or electronic communication indicating the library as their place of business, or otherwise imply library sponsorship of their activities.  Any materials for display or distribution must be approved by the Library Director.

The Library does not provide or endorse any tutors or coaches.  Clients are responsible to perform background checks and reference checks as part of the hiring process.  The library accepts no responsibility in this regard.

Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them while they are in the library.  For their safety, all children must be picked up before closing time by a parent or guardian.

All persons must exit the building by closing time.  It is the responsibility of all library users to be aware of library hours and holiday closings.

The Conti Meeting Room may not be used by private individuals.  The use of this room is covered in the Meeting Room Policy, No. 3-1.

Sunlight to read by

Spring is sprouting with colorful blossoms and lingering evening sunlight. It's a great time to shake off the cold weather cobwebs and get outdoors.

Take a walk to the library to check out a book, and use the natural light to read a little longer. You can browse our full catalog from anywhere. If you'll be out getting some exercise, try downloading an audiobook to keep you going. You can even stream music from Hoopla to add a little rhythm to your day. If you're suffering from cabin fever, the library is a great place to visit, no matter the weather. Come inside and be greeted with a smile from our welcoming staff, ask a librarian for help finding information or materials, or just pick your favorite nook to do some quiet reading or work.

There's so much to do at your local library. Mark down dates from our Calendar to add to yours. Join us!
